This is our classic version Arts and Crafts DIY Arbour plan in 2D. Materials list, step by step instructions to build your own garden arbour. This project features drip edges for durability and optional footings, staked in or permanent footings. We recommend permanent footings for all arbors.
This DIY arbor is a little more work–but, we expect it to last 20 years and look good all the way through.

Designer’s Notes…
This project is easily adaptable up to 6’ interior width. Simply add the required dimension to rafter length and reflect this in the materials list. By cutting the posts shorter
you can stake this structure into the ground for temporary erection, then use carport brackets to install permanently.
Erection on a patio is simple. Drill 1” hole in the base of shortened posts, mount single bolt down U shaped carport brackets and then fasten your structure.
