P121 Pergola Plans – Pergola Designs by GardenStructure.com
Pergola Plans developed for the advanced pergola builder. This Classical Southern Pergola Plan was often called a “lath house”. This is a do-it-yourself, step by step plan with cut and materials lists. The standard unit measures 7′ x 9′ and has optionally molded benches that are as comfortable as they are attractive.
Though this is classified a do-it-yourself pergola plan, it does involve accurate cutting and plenty of sanding for good results. Large laminated beams frame the walkway and many people will place this pergola over a pathway in the garden. The printed version of this pergola plan is available through Lee Valley Tools, in-store, and online. Note: This is in PDF format and templates may not print on your printer correctly. Confirm dimensions prior to building.
Our Deck Builders can create a structure like this for you or a different style of structure.

Pergola Plans P121 – Designer’s notes:
This plan was created about 12 years ago when a lady sent a photo of something similar and asked us for our version of a lath house pergola. Since then thousands of people have purchased these pergola plans between Alaska and Argentina and from Japan to Europe. This structure seems to have mass appeal. Is it because it brings back feelings of a bygone age? Garden Structures like pergolas seem to create romantic feelings of summer, gardens, and flowers in bloom. Every gardener seems to dream of having treasured pergolas like this in their garden. The unique style and shape with sculpted benches are singular enough to command exclusiveness.
We specialize in simplifying techniques and explaining things in a transparent way.

The History of this Pergola Plan
A lady in Barrie ON contacted us to have us create plans for them to build something similar. All she had was an old photo from the 40’s. The original structure likely didn’t last long so we improved the design a little and created details for them to build from. Since then we have had people build these structures all across North America in places like Huntsville, Los Angeles, and Tampa. Lee Valley Tools sells the printed version in their stores!
