The Monterey Pergola Plan – A self-supporting Pergola for Retaining Walls
This homeowner contacted us to design a pergola plan for installation in an existing interlock retaining wall. The builder of the retaining system used adhesive to glue the stacked interlock to create pockets for the posts within the wall.
As you can imagine, a traditional pergola design would have racked and moved around a bit. This movement would have caused the retaining wall to shift eventually leading to failure.
Our solution was to design a pergola that would feature large braces to prevent movement. The interlock installation contractor won awards for the yard– but neglected to mention where the pergola design came from. This pergola was installed by a GardenStructure.com licensed builder.
Building this pergola using our plans will save time and money!
All our plans come with free support by email– so pass our email onto your contractor and tell them to feel free to ask questions.
The overall size of this project is 18’3″, x 15’3″, and the interior size is about 13′ x 10’6″
