Hardwood Decks with Pergolas in Mississauga

Tigerdeck is sustainably grown hardwood deck material. It needs special stainless steel clips and stronger joists to install. Adding a gasket to the top of joists just makes sense for a material that is said to last 40 years plus. Installed price is typically about the same as a high-end composite decking. This one was designed by Paul Corsetti of Hands in Nature Landscape Design. It is a stunning, simple deck with pergolas and it was built in Mississauga Ontario.

The pergola and skirting are made of western red cedar, and the framing is pressure treated. The whole structure was precoated with a finish for durability, so we expect it to match the deck for durability. You can expect 30 years plus. Pergolas don’t have to be rectangular–they can angular as well. The trelliswork screens will allow climbing vines to train over the pergolas to offer even more shade and privacy. Tigerdeck is known for its prominent dark grain that looks much like a tiger stripe. It is an extremely dense material that wears very well.

Why Hardwood Decks?

Hardwoods that we use for decks typically grow in tropical climates. These species have developed resistance to rot and decay and also are so hard that insects don’t do damage either. Hardwood needs to be cleaned and oiled spring and fall to maintain their beauty. The frame needs to be much stronger in order to last as long as the decking does. These days, helical footings and polyurethane joist flashings help stretch the lifetime of a deck.
