Decks with Storage and a Pergola in Forest Hill
This is a small footprint deck in Forest Hill with integral pergola in Red Cedar. The gated entrance is connected physically and visually to the decks creating the side of the reading nook (built in Bench) with privacy screen. Recycling gets stored within the underside of the deck beneath the bench. The pergolas on this deck include a level change on connected posts.
Designing Decks for Small Yards
This yard may be small, but the home is grand. The home is stucco on older masonry construction so connecting the deck involved stripping out the stucco and insetting a flashing. You have to seal up the cut stucco in order to connect the deck securely.
Our clients wish list included storage for recycling that opens to the shared driveway. A privacy screen towards the driveway, a reading nook and a smallish deck for a bistro table. Coffee on the deck in the morning was a priority for them both. We designed a stone patio surrounded by gardens, freshened up the fence and the large dining space is on the stone patio. We added a pergola to the architectural red cedar deck with decorative braces to stop the pergola from moving in the wind. Our builders created a laminated gate with a privacy screen on the face of the gate along with some antique hardware. A tight baluster red cedar rail and custom post caps finish off the design.
