Curved Hardwood Decks
This curved hardwood deck has glass railings, a pergola and privacy screens. Most builders shy from trying to do this style of deck due to the difficulty associated with working in hardwood. This curved deck actually features inlays and solid rim joists that were laminated from solid red cedar. We love working in wood when we get the chance and durability is a match for most composite and pvc decks today. When paired with powdercoated aluminum railings, it is truly easy to maintain. A quick powerwash and a fresh coat of oil a couple of times a year.
Curved Decks are Self Bracing
If a curved deck is designed well, there is no need for lateral bracing–the curve is the brace! You can get a very different clean look on decks by adding curves to the design.
Hardwood Decks in Aurora
When you want curved hardwood decks in Aurora you have to realize that the building department may get their feathers ruffled. Being advanced detailing, they just are not used to looking at it. For this reason, your curved decks plan set will need a stamp from an engineer to get permits. We are used to that. 80% of the projects we do get the plans stamped for permits. It’s just not that big a deal and is expected.
Just like any composite or PVC deck we build, we expect that the decking will last 40 years. For this reason, we install joist flashings on bigger joists and beams to make sure that the frame will last as long as the decking. Hardwood, like composite, is a bigger investment– so lets do it right the first time.
